2022 Community Block Party Press Release

On Sunday, July 10th, the Glenmont Forest Neighbors Civic Association (GFNCA) and Grandview Circle of Opportunities (GOC) join with the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Impact Silver Spring and many others to host the Glenmont Forest Community Block Party at the new Glenmont Forest Community Park and pavilion located at the corner of Randolph Rd and Georgia Ave. adjacent to Fire Station #18 in Wheaton/Glenmont from 11am-4pm.

The much-anticipated annual Community Block party will be a special event this year returning with gusto after 2 years of enduring no celebration due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Throughout the day, three (3) new amenities either completed or being brought to the community will be highlighted:

12pm: Creating the Gathering Tree Public Art project by local artists Sandra Perez-Ramos and Stuart Diekmeyer.

1pm: Dedication of the completed DEP Green Streets project and Clean Water Montgomery campaign launch.

2pm: Announcing the new grant-funded community gardens in cooperation with Impact Silver Spring.

The block party will feature local vendors, including non-profits, artisans, local, state, and federal officials, project grant funders, County departments, and lively entertainment such as music and a moon bounce for the whole family. Bring the family and explore the new amenities to the community and discover new and fun ways you can participant and learn about these projects and your neighbors.

GFNCA, GOC, DEP and our partners hope that you will be able to attend to show the County’s continued dedication to the environment and our communities. There will also be an opportunity for current political candidates to address the community throughout the day.

Please contact glenmontforestnca@gmail.com for more information about the block party.

Thank you for supporting this event and we hope that you, your staff, and their families will come out and join the fun!  Please note, the event will take place rain or shine. We hope you will join us during the day and participate in the festivities. We look forward to seeing you there! Organizers will be adhering to all health and safety protocols in effect.
